This can help YOU.
Who knew, eh?
YOU are NOT alone ...
13% of Canadians (15+) say they feel lonely “always
or often” says the Canadian Mental Health Association.
In 2024, 17% of youth between 15-24 years of age
said that they feel lonely “always” or “often.”
And its been RISING since 2012.
And according to Psychology Today, “people don’t
want to discuss their loneliness with others out of fear of seeming negative.”
Psychology Today also says, “practical pathways
around loneliness include helping others and reaching out even to people you
don’t know well by exchanging pleasantries.”

Each day - I greet strangers with a hi, hello, hey - or some variation. --- Sometimes I see these people again - but many times I
don’t. --- Sometimes it’s a very quick chat (eg. In line in a grocery store). --- Sometimes people feel relaxed enough to
talk a little longer (eg. With co-workers after work).
“No one is an island” unto
themselves. We. Need. Each. Other. Everyone of us is very “valuable!” If you don’t believe me, then ask yourself
where you would be --- without a grocery store --- which was started by
“someone” --- which is stocked with food by more “someone(s)” --- and which is
kept in business by thousands of “someone(s)” --- known as customers --- just
like you.
And IF I gave YOU this “haiku paint chip” card (below),
--- after “breaking the ice” with YOU,
--- then THANK YOU for “responding” back to my
simple “hi”
--- or “UNIQUE” ice breaker question.
Try “breaking the ice” yourself next time you are standing in line.
HINT: Just ask - or say something - about one of their food items (What do you do with those avocados? OR That's a really big bag of buns).
