Like a lot of children, I played chess when I was young.
And I thought I was good, but not this good.
Phiona Mutesi who is the "Queen of Katwe," lived in a Kampala, Uganda, slum called "Katwe." To say she was "poor," in a North American sense would be an understatement. Indeed it is shocking.
And what's more shocking - and inspiring - is that young - really young - Phiona was also illiterate when she started to win chess games against elite level players in Uganda.
This is truly an inspiring movie about a girl - who against all odds - became an elite level champion chess player.
