I am on a mission to put Alberta first in Alberta.
But first, all Albertans need to “brush up” on the basics of Alberta.
Did you know… Alberta’s International Exports were $100 Billion in 2017. Alberta’s exports equalled those of 6 ½ provinces. WOW MORE WOW - Alberta’s exports were HALF that of Ontario. And remember Ontario has over 3 TIMES more people and more area than Alberta. EVEN MORE WOW - Alberta’s exports ECLIPSED Quebec’s $83 Billion. And remember, they have 2 TIMES more people and almost 3 TIMES more area than Alberta.
But that doesn’t mean that Albertans' federal tax money should be leaving and not coming back in the form of services and benefits. Whatever you want to call it (Transfer payments, Equalization Payments, Foreign Aid to the rest of Canada), there are definite problems if others feel that they can take $221 billion in just 9 years (2007-2015). That’s $40,000 for every Albertan. ********** Something clearly wrong. ************* And there is very little that Albertans can do about this within Canada’s Confederation. Alberta’s first premier once said, “I appeal to you for the elimination of selfish and partisan considerations. I appeal to you not as liberals or conservatives, but as Albertans.”
